🧱 Product Overview
Vibraflex is a professional-grade sound and vibration damping sheet engineered for superior performance in automotive, marine, industrial, and commercial applications. Built from a dense, polymer-modified bitumen compound with mineral fillers, it features a solvent-free acrylic adhesive and a durable black polyethylene (PE) film surface.
This layered design delivers exceptional damping across a wide frequency range while maintaining excellent long-term durability in demanding environments.
Layer | Description |
Core Material | Polymer-modified bitumen with mineral fillers |
Adhesive | Solvent-free, pressure-sensitive acrylic |
Top Surface | Black polyethylene (PE) film, ~8 µm (0.0003") thick |
Thickness | 4.9 mm (0.190") for Vibraflex 190 5.7 mm (0.225") for Vibraflex 225 |
Area Weight | 9.97–11.96 kg/m² (2.04–2.45 lb/ft²) |
🌱 Environmental & Chemical Safety
✅ No VOCs or Off-Gassing (Under Recommended Conditions)
Vibraflex contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and emits no fumes, odors, or gases during installation or use at recommended temperatures. Its solvent-free acrylic adhesive and non-porous bitumen core ensure stable performance in enclosed environments like vehicle cabins, marine compartments, or generator enclosures.
✅ Non-Toxic & Safe to Handle
Vibraflex is non-toxic under normal use. It requires no gloves, masks, or special PPE during typical installation. Standard hygiene practices are sufficient.
✅ REACH Compliant – No SVHCs
Vibraflex is classified as an article under REACH regulations. It contains no Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) at ≥0.1%, as defined under REACH Article 59.
🔥 Fire & Heat Resistance
Property | Value |
Flash Point | >250 °C (482 °F) |
Flammability Rating | 100 mm/min (DIN 75200; FMVSS 302 equivalent) |
Continuous Operating Temp | 80 °C (176 °F) |
Short-Term Heat Tolerance | 180 °C (356 °F) |
Vibraflex does not melt or drip under heat. It may char under direct flame but resists flame spread and maintains structural integrity.
🔥 Heating & Installation Safety
We recommend heating Vibraflex to 60–80 °C (140–175 °F) using a heat gun or torch to improve flexibility and adhesion. This softens the bitumen core for better conformity and ensures a strong bond when rolled.
Layer | Behavior During Heating |
Bitumen Core | Softens without degradation at recommended temps; no harmful fumes released |
Acrylic Adhesive | Solvent-free and thermally stable; no off-gassing |
PE Film Surface | May char with open flame; does not emit harmful fumes at recommended temps |
⚠️ Important Heating Safety Notes:
🔒 No VOCs or toxins are released when Vibraflex is heated properly.
⚠️ Do not overheat or apply sustained open flame to the bitumen layer. Burning bitumen may release smoke containing hydrocarbons, VOCs, and PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons).
🧯 Always follow safety protocols when using torches or heat guns:
Ensure well-ventilated areas
Wear PPE when appropriate
Avoid prolonged inhalation of smoke or vapor
🧤 After heating, material will be hot — allow to cool or handle with care to prevent burns.
⚠️ Note for Professional Installers
While heating Vibraflex to 60–80 °C (140–175 °F) is the recommended method for proper adhesion and flexibility, some experienced installers may choose to apply more aggressive heat to further soften the material. This is not required for effective performance and is not officially recommended by the manufacturer. However, if such a method is used: It must be done in a well-ventilated area Open flame should not directly contact the bitumen layer Adequate PPE (gloves, eyewear, respirator) is advised Users accept all risk for outcomes beyond recommended installation conditions
💧 Chemical Resistance
Vibraflex is formulated for long-term resistance to common automotive and industrial environments.
Substance | Resistance |
Water | Excellent |
Oil / Grease | Excellent |
Alcohols | Good |
Diluted Acids / Bases | Good (short-term exposure recommended) |
♻️ Disposal & Environmental Impact
Category | Status |
Biodegradable | ❌ No |
Recyclable | ⚠️ Not practical post-install due to layers |
Hazardous Waste | ✅ Not classified as hazardous |
Preferred Disposal | Industrial waste or landfill where permitted |
Vibraflex may be disposed of in accordance with local regulations, including standard landfill disposal where permitted. The product is not classified as hazardous waste and is considered environmentally stable under typical landfill conditions. It is not biodegradable but does not leach or degrade in ways that harm the environment.
